Climate Justice for Food Sovereignty rally in Bangladesh

In the Bangladeshi context, food sovereignty will not be achieved without climate justice.  Climate change already threatened food security in Bangladesh many times. Thousands of people especially people from farming communities already migrated as climate refugees. Climate change is hammering down the food production over the years. Crops failure is the common scenario for many farmers and cyclone, flood, storm surge are more frequent and stronger than before. In this worst situation, climate justice can give the best chance to the Bangladeshi farming communities to survive in a better scale. We want to achieve food sovereignty and ensuring climate justice is way forward to achieve it.

Bangladesh Krishok Federation (BKF), Bangladesh Kishani Sabha (BKS) and Bangladesh Adivashi Samity (BAS), the three-member organisation of La Via Campesina jointly organised the rally on "Climate Justice for Food Sovereignty" on 20 April 2018 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The rally organised to observed International Day of Peasant´s Struggle led by BKS president Asma Begum, BAS president Bisawnath Singh, BKF office secretary Mohiuddin Howlader Mohin, Labour secretary Mahabub Alam Taleb, BKF central leader Tusher Kanti Bairagi and others. BKF, BKS and BAS jointly will build 'Climate Justice for Food Sovereignty' campaign stronger across Bangladesh in the coming days" leaders said in the rally.
